Salah has previously been approached by one of the Saudi Pro League teams.
Omar Mugharbel, the league’s chief executive (CEO), has spoken about bringing Mohamed Salah to the Saudi Pro League if the winger decides to leave Liverpool.
Due to his criticism of manager Arne Slot and the team, Liverpool star Salah was left at home for Tuesday’s 1-0 Champions League victory over Inter Milan.
After being an unused substitute in the 3-3 draw against Leeds United, Mohamed Salah, 33, stated he felt “thrown under the bus” for the Reds’ poor play. He added that his relationship with Slot had collapsed.

The Egyptian secured a contract extension last term to 2027 amid interest from Saudi Arabia. However, Mugharbel stated this during the World Football Summit (WFS) in Riyadh:
“Salah is welcome in the Saudi League but it is the clubs that are responsible for negotiating with players. For sure Salah is one of them [a target].”
After the victory over Inter, Reds manager Slot maintained his position on Mohamed Salah, having previously said he was unsure if the forward would return to the team.
Mohamed Salah will travel to Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after Saturday’s Premier League match at Anfield against Brighton, with the January transfer window just a few weeks away.
After sharing images of himself at the gym while his teammates were away in Italy for the UCL game this week, it is unclear if he will participate in the Saturday match.
In September 2023, Liverpool reportedly turned down a £150 million approach from Al-Ittihad. On Monday, SunSport disclosed that Al-Hilal were considering a deal.
However, Mugharbel’s remarks mark the first time a Saudi Pro League official has discussed the player in public.
Meanwhile, Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, has expressed uncertainty about Mohamed Salah’s future with the team. Additionally, he disclosed the discussions he had with Salah before the forward’s shocking interview that shook the Anfield giants.
When is Mohamed Salah’s contract expiring?
His deal will expire in June 2027.
Did any Saudi club court Salah?
Yes, a few Saudi clubs have made bids to sign the forward.
Will he leave the club in January?
It remains to be seen.
