Scotland name squad for World Cup qualifiers against Denmark & Belarus; Aaron Hickey called-up

The Scots will face Denmark and Belarus in the qualifiers.
Following an almost two-year absence due to a chronic ailment, Brentford defender Aaron Hickey has been called up to the Scotland squad.
Hickey, 23, was unable to compete in Euro 2024 after missing more than 18 months of action owing to a hamstring strain that necessitated extensive surgery. In October 2023, he made his final appearance for Scotland against Spain.
After missing the previous camp in June, clubmate Ryan Christie and new Bournemouth player Ben Gannon Doak are back. For the first time since November, Gannon Doak is back.
In an attempt to earn a spot in their first World Cup since 1998, Steve Clarkeâs team will go to Denmark before travelling to Hungary to play Belarus.
But there isnât room for Ryan Porteous, who recently joined Los Angeles, and Nathan Patterson of Everton. Hearts winger Lawrence Shankland was unexpectedly left out of the team, but Birmingham City forward Lyndon Dykes and Hibernian forward Kieron Bowie were called up.
Following Lennon Millerâs transfer to Udinese this summer, five players from Serie A teams have been picked up. Lewis Ferguson of Bologna, Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour of Napoli, and Che Adams of Torino have all been called up.
