Scotland vs Hungary: All-time head-to-head record | Euro 2024

Bottom two from Group A clash with hope to reach the knockout round.
Going into the last set of group stage matches, Scotland have no choice but to give their everything. Despite eight group-stage failures at the World Cup and three at the European Championship, the Tartan Army have never advanced to the knockout stages of a major event. Additionally, out of their 11 European Championship games, they have only won two.
After finishing level on points, head-to-head record and goal difference with Scotland, Hungary advanced to the knockout stages of the Euro 96 tournament with a late sympathy goal against England in their last group stage match. It was a painful exit.
After suffering a 5-1 loss to host Germany in their opening Euro 2024 match, Steve Clarke’s team managed to salvage a 1-1 draw against Switzerland in their most recent match. Although there were still a few mistakes, Scotland’s performance was significantly better.
One such mistake resulted in Xherdan Shaqiri‘s incredible goal, which negated Scott McTominay’s opening goal. Interestingly, and perhaps predictably, every single one of the six Scottish players who have scored in a European Championship has a last name that begins with Mc.
Hungary, however, are attempting to steer clear of yet another unsuccessful European Championship. Hungary drawn into a difficult group in Euro 2020, lost one and drew two of their three group-stage matches before being eliminated.
It happened after they advanced to the European 2016 round of 16. Hungary have now suffered two losses at Euro 2024, to Germany and Switzerland.
