The Scots return to the competition for the first time since 1998.
Scotland are currently gearing up for their historic return to the men’s FIFA World Cup, marking their first appearance on the global stage since 1998.
A tentative 55-man roster of possible call-ups has already been sent to FIFA by the Scotland manager Steve Clarke. But now it’s time for Scotland will announce their final 26-man World Cup roster this month.
Fans won’t have to wait long to learn who will be travelling to North America, though.
Scotland had not participated in the competition since 1998, but they were able to make a comeback vs Denmark in November and qualify for the tournament.
Clarke will now be looking to make further history this summer by making it to the knockout stages for the first time. Scotland have never advanced past the group stage in any of their eight prior World Cup participation.
When will Scotland announce squad for FIFA World Cup 2026?

Scotland’s 26-man World Cup team will be revealed today, May 19, at 12 p.m. BST.
On May 30, Clarke’s team plays Curacao at Hampden Park before travelling to the United States, which takes place ahead of the tournament’s last two warm-up games.
After that, they will set up their base at Inter Miami’s Fort Lauderdale, Florida, training facility.
On June 6, Scotland will play a friendly match against Bolivia in New Jersey to wrap up their preparations. Scotland’s 2026 World Cup campaign will start at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, against Haiti.
The game is set to begin on Sunday, June 14, at 2 a.m. BST. Then, on Friday, June 19, at 11 p.m., they play Morocco in Foxborough. On 24th June, they will conclude their group games against Brazil at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
