Ramos looks set to become the newest high-profile player to join the Saudi Pro League.

Reports suggest that Sergio Ramos is on course to join Saudi Pro League team Al Orobah after ending his one-year stint with Sevilla. The former Real Madrid defender joined his childhood club last summer and endured a decent spell.

Ramos seems to have waited during the transfer window in the hope to continue playing in Europe but no clubs expressed interest in signing the centre-back and now he is on his way to joining a Saudi club.

The Spanish player is in the last years of his career and it is not surprising he will also be among other players to move to the Middle East. Other Saudi clubs Clubs like Al Ittihad and Al Nassr wanted to sign the defender but a deal couldn’t be reached with the 38-year-old.

Ramos will prepare to play for Al Orobah who earned a promotion to the Saudi top-flight league this season. Ramos’ experience at the back will be valuable for the team and his addition will help the club make waves in the leagues.

Ramos is poised to sign a two-year contract and should undergo his medical examination in the coming days if everything goes as per the plan.

Despite Al Orobah not boasting plenty of European players like other Saudi clubs such as Al Hilal and Al Nassr, Ramos’ signing will elevate their performance, especially from the back and they will hope his acquisition will help them attract more European stars.

The 2010 World Cup winner has often been linked with a move to Saudi teams, it first happening when he left Real Madrid and later when he departed Paris Saint-Germain. But the veteran centre-back was reluctant to leave Europe and wanted to continue which saw him join Sevilla.

Ramos is a renowned defender known for his aggressive approach toward the game and has won every trophy possible in his career. Now he is set to spend the last years of his playing career in Saudi before he makes any call on his future.
