Several PSG accounts frozen amid Kylian Mbappe’s €55m legal dispute

The Frenchman has argued that his former club has failed to pay him his previous wages.
Kylian Mbappé’s legal team is launching a barrage of lawsuits, trying to settle the legal conflict between the World Cup champion and his previous team, Paris Saint-Germain.
The French forward claims that PSG owes him €55 million (£47.5 million) in unpaid pay and incentives. According to his attorneys, they have requested that the Paris court begin procedures.
According to Thomas Clay, one of the forward’s legal specialists, Kylian Mbappé was authorized to take a precautionary seizure of the funds, which were frozen from PSG’s bank accounts on Thursday. He stated that a court hearing is set for May 26.
“This story has been going on for just over a year now,” Mbappé’s main lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, said. “One year was the deadline we set for ourselves for trying to resolve this dispute as peacefully as possible. As the months went by, Kylian Mbappé still hasn’t been paid the missing €55m. A decision has been taken, this time to go on the attack.”
Verheyden said that they were requesting the French sports minister to step in and formally contest a ruling by the French football federation’s appeals commission that declared Mbappé’s appeal against PSG inadmissible due to an ongoing civil court process.
She said that Mbappé had requested that the federation notify UEFA that PSG had violated the club’s financial commitments by failing to pay him what he was due.
Verheyden proposed that PSG may forfeit their Champions League license if they were proven to be at fault.
A representative for UFFA told Reuters: “The case is only indirectly linked with us in terms of possible arrears of payment. If a final decision is taken by the French authorities and confirms that there are indeed arrears … the club would then have to pay the arrears on time or risk noncompliance with financial fair play.”
The ruling directing PSG to give Mbappé the unpaid salary he demands was maintained by the French League’s (LFP) appeals tribunal last October. According to Mbappé, the club owes him the remaining third of a loyalty incentive in addition to three months’ salary.
