Sir Jim Ratcliffe dreams of making Zinedine Zidane Manchester United coach
Zidane has not managed at club level since 2021.
Ever since buying the minority take at Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has revamped the entire club’s board. Under him, the team have operated smoothly. They have also bought many great players this summer. New signings will give manager Erik ten Hag more resources to compete with other Premier League elites for the 2024-25 title.
However, the start of the new season hasn’t been the way it was expected. United have managed to win once in three Premier League games. If things don’t change then the Dutchman’s time at the club could end halfway through the season.
Meanwhile, Ratcliffe also has his sight set on bringing Zinedine Zidane as the club’s new manager. It won’t be that simple given the former Real Madrid head coach has preferred managing the national team (France).
Ratcliffe dreams of luring Zinedine Zidane to the Old Trafford job. United have been linked with him many times. Even when the uncertain speculations regarding Ten Hag’s future started swirling, Zidane’s name came along.
United had approached the former Real Madrid player back in 2021 when they sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, only for Zinedine Zidane to rule himself out of the running.
However, it was also believed that Zidane was interested in taking the United job a few months ago, prior to Ten Hag extending his stay. But how things have unfolded after the start of the new season it won’t be surprising that the Dutchman once again faces uncertainty at the club.
The Frenchman last managed a club in 2021. Since then Zidane has remained unemployed. He has been linked with a job to many teams but he has yet to make a decision. The French coach however wants to oversee the national team.
The 52-year-old has already proved his managing astuteness after leading Real Madrid to three UEFA Champions League in a row. Such massive success gave him the status of one of the most prominent managers in Europe.
Meanwhile, for Erik ten Hag, if things don’t change after the international break then the club’s board might have to make an ultimate decision on his future.
