Spurs will host Villarreal in their first UCL match of the league phase.

Tottenham Hotspur will prepare for their first UEFA Champions League clash of the season when they host Spanish team Villarreal tonight.

Spurs, who won the UEFA Europa League last season under Ange Postecoglou, were guaranteed a place in the Champions League for the current season.

However, the club parted ways with Postecoglou, with Thomas Frank replacing him, despite the Australian leading the club to their first-ever trophy in 17 years.

Meanwhile, under Frank, the club have fared brilliantly. They have prevailed in three matches in four games and are third in the Premier League. But they will now switch their attention to an important home clash in the Champions League.

Ahead of the match, manager Frank has provided injury news for Tottenham. During the press briefing, he updated on Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani’s possible availability for the UCL match.

“Dom (Solanke) is taking steps in the right direction, that’s positive, but he’s not ready to be involved tomorrow.

“Randal (Kolo Muani) is ready. How many minutes? If we needed him to play, he could play 90 minutes, but it’s getting him to play at the intensity and level we want.

“He’s ready and he’s involved tomorrow and that’s the main thing.”

With Solanke out, Richarlison could be operating as the centre-forward against Villarreal. Kolo Muani might make his first appearance for the new club as a replacement.

However, it will be interesting to see how Thomas Frank will set up his lineup. He could also employ a similar one, which he used against West Ham United. He has enough options in the squad and, therefore, will hope to deploy a solid lineup.

Tottenham have shown to be a better side this season and will hope to continue in the same vein when they host Villarreal tonight, which will also be Frank’s first-ever UCL game in his managerial career.

Will Kolo Muani make his Tottenham debut tonight?

He could make his debut against the Yellow Submarines.

Has Thomas Frank overseen a club in the Champions League?

No, it will be his first-ever UCL match as a manager.

When was the last time Tottenham played in the UCL?

They last played in the 2022-23 season.
