Ted Lasso star Cristo Fernández scores brace while on trial with Chicago Fire FC II, MLS Next Pro club confirms

The actor played a big role in the famous TV series Ted Lasso.
Cristo Fernández, the actor, best known for his role as Ted Lasso’s Dani Rojas, is bringing his passion for football off television and onto a real field.
Cristo Fernández, 35, is now on trial with El Paso Locomotive FC of the USL Championship. He trains with the squad and even played for roughly 30 minutes in a friendly match against New Mexico United while the organisation considers whether to extend a professional contract offer to him.
After suffering injuries while playing youth soccer in Mexico, Fernández switched to acting. Now, he’s trying to get back into the sport he loves.

Fernández had also spent time with Chicago Fire II a few weeks prior, suggesting that this is not the first team he has sought to sign with before the upcoming season.
Being a passionate soccer fan who frequently attends professional games, Cristo Fernández’s attempt to sign with El Paso is more of a return to the past than a new one. After suffering a severe knee injury while playing for his hometown team, Tecos Fête Club, at the age of 15, Fernández—who had shown promise as a player—turned to acting while attending college.
Naturally, the phenomenon of soccer players appearing in movies is not particularly new; Vinnie Jones and the legendary Eric Cantona are just two examples of those who gave up their boots to pursue the bright lights of Hollywood.
Although less typical, the other route is also not unheard of. As a teenage player for Bonnyrigg Rose, Sean Connery is said to have been offered a contract by Sir Matt Busby after making an impression in a kickabout against a team the renowned Manchester United manager was scouting.
