Solanke scored 19 goals last season in the Premier League.

Dominic Solanke is now set to undergo his medical as a Tottenham Hotspur striker. Spurs reportedly have reached an agreement with AFC Bournemouth for a £65 million deal.

The 26-year-old is set to sign a six-year contract with the North London club. The player was eager for a move to Spurs after Ange Postecoglou made him one of the priority signings during the summer transfer window.

It is understood that the Cherries agreed to sell their star striker for a club-record fee, and talks with Spurs had been going on for the past few weeks.

Dominic Solanke was on contract with Bournemouth until 2029, but his deal included a £65 million ($83 million) release clause that can be triggered by certain clubs.

Spurs have been searching for an ideal striker ever since Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich. It was expected that Richarlison would step up after the England international’s exit. But the Brazilian has struggled for consistency and was also mired in injuries.

The former Liverpool forward fits the style of Postecoglou and will hope to perform well as the North London side are paying a good sum for him. Last season, the centre-forward produced 19 goals and was the fourth-top scorer in the Premier League

Fans will expect Solanke to continue his fine form when the new season starts, as Spurs have struggled to find a reliable striker.

Under the Austrian manager, Spurs last season finished fifth in the table. This time fans will hope that Tottenham will contend for the top-four spot and maybe even the title.

They have played entertaining football under Postecoglou. The club have also made new additions that will further reinforce the team to fight on all fronts. Tottenham are yet to win a trophy since 2007. Hopefully, that curse finally will be broken this upcoming season.

With a steep price tag hanging over his head, Solanke, who has played in the league for two seasons, will need to demonstrate his deadly efficiency in front of goal.
