Uruguay and Colombia will face off against each other in the second semi-final of the Copa America 2024 to book their place in the final in Florida. Uruguay defeated Brazil in the quarter-final in the penalty shootout. On the other hand, Colombia scored five goals against Panama and managed to keep a clean sheet.

Uruguay have shown that they have one of the best defences in Copa America by not allowing Brazil to score in the entire 120 minutes. Ronald Araujo, their best defender, suffered an injury in the first half and Nahitan Nandez received a red card in the second half. Colombia managed to put five past Panama in the quarter-finals courtesy of James Rodriguez, Jhon Cordoba, Luis Diaz, Richard Rios and Miguel Borja. They created a record of their biggest margin win in any Copa America game. Moreover, they have gone 27 games without losing any game.

Los Cafeteros last lost a game in a February 2022 World Cup qualifier against Argentina. If they manage to win the semi-final, then they will script history and create a record for the longest stretch of games without suffering any defeat.

Manuel Ugarte (Uruguay)

Manuel Ugarte has been sensational for Uruguay in the midfield playing beside Federico Valverde. He has been the chief orchestrator in the midfield. Ugarte has successfully made three tackles, has won five ground duels and has a passing accuracy of 90% in the tournament. He also managed to score the decisive penalty against Brazil in the quarter-final which helped his team to qualify for the semi-final. Ugarte will be integral for Uruguay’s success against Colombia, yet again.

James Rodriguez (Colombia)

What a tournament James Rodriguez is having! He will have the responsibility on him yet again to deliver the goods against Uruguay in the semi-final. He already has five assists in the tournament, which is the joint best with Lionel Messi‘s five in the Copa America 2021. Rodriguez gave two assists in the 5-0 win over Panama and scored one from the penalty spot. He has completed four successful crosses and has a pass accuracy rate of 84% in the tournament.
