USA predicted lineup for Panama clash in Copa America 2024

The host nation play Panama in their second Group C match.

The 2024 edition of the Copa América is being held in the United States Of America. It has 16 teams competing against each other to lift the title. Argentina are the defending champions having beaten Brazil 1-0 in the 2021 Copa América final.

The USA National team are in Group C alongside Uruguay, Panama and Bolivia. The USA defeated Bolivia 2-0 in their first group-stage match.

Manager Gregg Berhalter is likely to not make any serious changes as USA intend to keep its winning streak.

USA predicted lineup (Formation: 4-3-3)

GK: Matt Turner

USMNT’s goalkeeper recently signed for Premier League club Nottingham Forest because of his excellent performances. Matt Turner did not have much to do in USA’s first game against Bolivia in Copa América. He did make some routine saves and is expected to retain his spot in the starting XI.

LB: Antonee Robinson

Antonee Robinson has earned his spot in the Fulham and USMNT starting XI. The left-back was named Fulham’s Player Of The Season because of his performances in the 2023-24 Premier League campaign. Robinson is not a traditional left-back and helps contribute to attacking plays as well. He dominated the left flank defensively as well in the first match.

CB: Tim Ream

Yet another Fulham player on the USMNT starting XI. Tim Ream has been playing at the Premier League level for 10 years and has a lot of experience. A veteran Centre-Back in the backline for the USA’s national team is much needed. Ream’s partnership alongside Chris Richards makes the USMNT’s defence resolute.

CB: Chris Richards

Chris Richards has some experience in different positions in the Premier League. Richards has played as a centre-back, right-back and central defensive midfielder for Crystal Palace. He was calm and composed in the first match against Bolivia. The defender was arguably the best defender in USMNT’s first group-stage match.

RB: Joe Scally

Since Sergino Dest’s absence at right-Back for USMNT, Joe Scally has filled in his spot. Although he cannot offer much in attack like Dest, he is solid in defence. Scally was great in USA’s first match against Bolivia and did some dirty fouls as well to disrupt the opponent.

CM: Weston McKennie

Weston Mckennie started off slow against Bolivia but eventually settled in and played well. Mckennie can play well as a number 6 or even as a number 8 as well. He’s very sound defensively and helps carry the ball forward as well.

CDM: Yunus Musah

Yunus Musah has played as a midfielder for AC Milan on various occasions. He is just 20 years old and has a lot of experience at the top level under his name.

Musah has also played for USMNT at the FIFA World Cup which explains how he can do well at the Copa América. He is yet to start at the Copa América 2024 and has a good chance to get some minutes in the next clash against Panama.

CM: Gio Reyna

Playing as a central midfielder is not Gio Reyna’s usual position. Reyna usually does well as a winger or a central-attacking midfielder for his club Borussia Dortmund.

Reyna was a bit limited in the attack in USA’s previous game against Bolivia. However, he did play a much deeper role and helped contribute to the team’s defence. Gio Reyna is expected to display his immense attacking abilities in USA’s further games at the Copa América.

LW: Christian Pulisic

It all seemed bad for Christian Pulisic after an inconsistent stint at Chelsea. Pulisic had the talent and attacking abilities but could not perform up to the expectations consistently.

However, Pulisic proved everyone wrong and put in great performances for AC Milan throughout the 2023-24 season. Moreover, he is just getting started for the USMNT.

The 25-year-old is the best attacking threat and arguably one of the best-attacking players at Copa América. Pulisic scored a brilliant goal against Bolivia and also assisted the second goal to seal three points.

ST: Folarin Balogun

A similar story to Christian Pulisic about struggling to perform consistently in the Premier League. Balogun is a very talented player and played at Arsenal for quite some time before joining Ligue 1 side Reims for game time.

Balogun had a breakthrough season scoring 21 goals for Reims. Folarin Balogun managed to score a goal for his national team after slowly getting into the game. Balogun’s presence as a striker will definitely be required in his team’s campaign.

RW: Tim Weah

The most unfortunate player on the USMNT team last game. Tim Weah was a menace on the pitch and took on his opponents on various occasions. Weah’s dribbling ability combined with his pace makes him a brilliant winger.
