Ronaldo has been speculated to buy the LaLiga club if they remain in the first tier this season.

It appears that Valencia owner Peter Lim has ended speculation that Cristiano Ronaldo might be the next to purchase the LaLiga team.

Since 2014, Lim has owned the majority of the Spanish team. He purchased a 50% share in Salford City, a lower-league team in England, that same year. Last year, he gave co-owner Gary Neville, whom he memorably appointed as Valencia’s manager ten years earlier, his share of the League Two team.

There have been several rumors that Ronaldo, a former teammate of Neville’s at Manchester United, is interested in purchasing Valencia from Lim.

The two have already done business together. In 2015, Lim’s company, Mint Media, bought some of Ronaldo’s image rights.

In recent months, there have been reports that Ronaldo would buy Valencia. Spanish radio station Cope Cadena reported that Lim had informed PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi that the club was for sale for $438 million (€400 million).

Julian Redondo, a columnist for Mundo Deportivo, added fire to the rumours when he claimed that the Portuguese striker would be “the next owner of Valencia if they stay in LaLiga.” Lim has already told Singaporean media, though, that he has no plans to sell the team.

He appointed his son Kiat Lim as club president in March, further solidifying his family’s enduring dedication to Valencia. Chan Lay Hoon, the departing president, called the ruling a “strong affirmation” of the owner’s ongoing commitment to Valencia.

“I am pleased to pass the baton to Kiat Lim, who is the son of our major shareholder,” the ex-club president said. “This appointment is a strong affirmation of the shareholder’s (Peter’s) ongoing commitment to the club and its future.”

Regarding the rumours of a possible Valencia takeover, Ronaldo has not yet spoken. In an interview with Portuguese publication Canal 11 in February, the Al-Nassr star alluded to his desire to become a club owner while remaining committed as he approaches the end of his playing career.
