Venezuela vs Mexico: All-time head-to-head record | Copa America 2024

Venezuela clinched a 2-1 win in the first Copa America 2024 game.
On matchday one, a resilient Venezuela team overcame an early goal to win their first-ever Copa America game by coming back from behind. They scored two goals in the second half in a space of ten minutes.
In addition, it put a stop to Fernando Batista’s team’s losing streak of five games in all competitions. They won their opening game in this tournament for the first time since beating Jamaica 1-0 in 2016.
It has been more than a year since June 2023 and they are yet to triumph in consecutive international competitions. But a win on Wednesday would be a special achievement as it will make them winners of successive games in this event since 2016.
On the other hand, El Tri had a nervous first half but eventually emerged victorious with 62% of the possession and nine shots on goal.
Though Jaime Lozano’s team ended a two-match losing streak with the victory, things may have been different if a Michail Antonio strike had not been disqualified for offside.
That increased their winning streak in the tournament’s group stage to four games, whereas they had won all three of their prior Copa America openers.
Mexico had won 12 of the previous 13 games in which they had scored the first goal; the only loss they had suffered during that time came at the hands of Colombia (3-2 defeat) in Los Angeles in December.
