The England striker is expected to miss a few matches.

Even if star striker Harry Kane is injured, Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has faith in his team to produce enough goals to win this season.

During Saturday’s 1-1 league tie against Borussia Dortmund, the England captain, who leads the Bundesliga scoring list with 14 goals and has 20 goals overall this season, sustained a thigh muscle injury.

Despite Kane’s anticipated “several games” out, Kompany expressed his hope that he will be able to play before the start of winter break on December 22. In the Bundesliga, Bayern leads Eintracht Frankfurt by four points.

“It is difficult to say at this moment but there is a chance for him to still play this year,” Kompany told a news conference on Monday.

“But he will miss several games and to replace him, you know you cannot replace the goals or the player one-for-one. That’s why he is a top player.”

“Harry has scored 20 goals. You can’t replace that. But we have players who score goals, including Jamal (Musiala). We’ll have a solution. We have enough players who can fulfil the role, even if you can’t replace his goals one-to-one.”

According to Kompany, players with sufficient experience to cover the void include Leroy Sané, Michael Olise, Thomas Müller, and Serge Gnabry.

“We have talent in the team and need to solve it differently. We won’t be lacking talent tomorrow but it will look different,” Kompany said.

“We have many options. Thomas MĂĽller, Mathys Tel, Gnabry, Olise, Leroy. I now named almost everyone. Obviously, Harry has scored 20 goals… but we have dangerous players in attack.”

On Tuesday, Bayern will play Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16 of the German Cup. They have lost in the second round three of the last four seasons, haven’t advanced beyond the quarterfinals, and haven’t won the competition since 2020.

“We play the Cup holders tomorrow. One of the top two or three games in Germany, and I hope our performance will match the importance of the game,” Kompany said.
