The forward could face serious problems if found guilty by FIFA.
Vinicius Jr may be subject to harsh disciplinary measures, including a two-year suspension, because of his connections to the ownership of many clubs. A potential conflict of interest will be looked into by FIFA, according to a report by MARCA.
The lawsuit starts with a complaint made on April 7 by Tiberis Holding do Brasil, a Brazilian corporation that alleges Vinicius Jr owns direct or indirect ownership in professional football clubs, which is expressly forbidden by FIFA’s Code of Ethics, through a company connected to his father and agent, Thassilo Soares.
Tiberis claims that the Real Madrid winger has ties to Alercom, a second-division team in Portugal, and the Athletic Club de São João del Rei in Brazil. According to the corporation, it was not granted the right of first refusal when shares of Athletic were sold; instead, they were sold to an organisation connected to Vinicius Jr.
FIFA’s rules are unambiguous and strict in this regard. In line with Article 22 of the Spanish Sports Law and Article 20 of the FIFA Code of Ethics:
“Active players may not directly or indirectly hold ownership in professional football clubs at the national or international level if there is any risk of a conflict of interest.”
Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr faces a possible two-year suspension
Vinicius Jr might face a two-year suspension if the Ethics Committee finds that these regulations have been broken. This would be a devastating blow to both Real Madrid and the Brazilian national team, especially with important tournaments approaching.
The inquiry also reveals the expanding operations of the company that Vinicius’s father and agent manage, which has gotten more and more involved in football ventures.
The formal accusation was brought about by the contested ownership transfer, and Tiberis sought disciplinary action towards one of the most prominent and marketable individuals in the sport.
Although sources reveal that the inquiry is still ongoing, FIFA has not yet provided a date for when a decision will be made on the Vinicius Jr suspension.
