The Brazilian is on the verge of extending his contract at Los Blancos.

Vinicius Jr. is on the verge of signing a hefty new contract that will prolong his time at Real Madrid. Although the agreement is still pending, Madrid may verbally consent to it in a few days as they try to ward off Saudi Arabia’s interest.

During the summer transfer window, Saudi Pro League clubs are planning six high-profile acquisitions, including the Brazilian winger.

However, Vinicius Jr. is expected to stay at the Bernabeu, and his new contract is expected to bring in a sizable sum of money. According to reports, his present release clause is worth €1 billion [£857 million], but the new terms could raise this amount.

Vinicius Jr. is also expected to receive a pay increase at Real Madrid, where his salary and bonuses will surpass those of Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe.

The 24-year-old was offered a $1 billion [£751 million] deal by Saudi Arabia, but he is not interested in their deal. However, there is still a chance that he will eventually move.

By their own lofty standards, Madrid have had a challenging season, but Vinicius Jr. has kept scoring goals. In 46 games with Los Blancos in all competitions, he has scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists.

The winger now has 105 goals overall, making him the 23rd player in the club’s history to reach 100 goals in January.

A month later, when Madrid defeated Real Sociedad in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final, Vinicius Jr. also captained the team for the first time. They advanced to this weekend’s final to play Barcelona in the final of the Copa del Rey.

After Barca claimed the Supercopa de España in January, the two rivals will face off in a cup final for the second time during the season.

After losing to Arsenal in the Champions League quarterfinals, the Copa del Rey and LaLiga might also be Madrid’s final opportunity to win a trophy.
