The Brazilian recently won the FIFA Best Men’s Player 2024 award.
Vinicius Jr. of Real Madrid and Brazil was crowned the FIFA Best Men’s Player, capping an incredible evening of football at an extravagant ceremony in Doha, Qatar.
The 24-year-old forward was given the distinction following an incredible season in which he scored an incredible 32 goals for Real Madrid and won both the UEFA Champions League and LaLiga.
With a crucial goal in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, which saw Real Madrid win 2-0 at Wembley, Vinicius was instrumental in the team’s triumph. Additionally, he scored an incredible hat-trick to help the Spanish team defeat Barcelona 4-1 in the Spanish Super Cup final.
The Brazilian, who narrowly lost out on the Ballon d’Or earlier this year when Rodri of Manchester City controversially won the prize, is making a sweet comeback with this honour. Real Madrid fully supported Vinicius’s acceptance of his award in Doha, despite Madrid’s boycott of the Ballon d’Or ceremony due to their fury over the decision.
VinĂcius Jr. won the award with 48 points, while Rodri, a Spanish midfielder, came in second with 43 points. With 37 points, Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid and England completed the top three.
“The Brazilian star and player enjoyed the most spectacular season of his career in 2023-24, regularly delivering decisive moments for Real Madrid, netting 24 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions,” announced FIFA.
Vinicius is slowly making his name known among the best players out there. At such a young age, the Brazilian’s first big award has finally come despite missing out on the Ballon d’Or. However, he will have many opportunities to win the most coveted prize in football in the future if he continues to deliver being one of the most talented players on the pitch.
Since joining Real Madrid the Brazilian has already won two UEFA Champions League, in which he scored in both the finals. It quite rightly indicates he is a big game player and will continue to win trophies and individual awards. With this, we take a look at his collection of trophies and individual awards.
