Wayne Rooney's impressive season at Plymouth Argyle so far

The Greens were unbeaten in September.
Wayne Rooney seems to have finally transformed Plymouth Argyle into a competitive team in the EFL Championship. Their performance in September has seen the former Manchester United player getting nominated for the Championship Manager of the Month award for the first time.
Rooney took charge of Argyle in May and his work at the club has been recognised. Especially in September, it has seen him being nominated for the Manager of the Month award alongside John Eustace of Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder and Burnley manager Scott Parker.
The former Everton player revived Argyle’s performance in the league as his side beat Championship leaders Sunderland 3-2 before a narrow 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion.
The club ended the month with a 3-1 home win over relegated Premier League side Luton Town. The result lifted Rooney’s side to 14th in the table from the relegation spot.
Has Rooney finetuned Plymouth Argyle’s performance?
Seeing their sudden lift in performance, now the players are showing determination to win every game. Rooney has certainly changed the attitude of many players and their drive to win has continued to increase.
Rooney has always wanted his side to play without fear. With the help of excellent signings, it has been easier to try and control the game. The 38-year-old showed his experience as a leader and was never afraid to make big decisions.
His first bold move was to replace fringe players with those who wanted to make an impression. Like this, the team improved under those players who showed great commitment. One of the best decisions from Rooney was to bring Daniel Grimshaw between the stick who had more to show than just shot-stopping ability.
This is not a laughing stock Plymouth Argyle anymore, they are playing fluid football under Rooney, who can go on to achieve big things and even earn a promotion to the Premier League.
You risk underestimating them because Wayne Rooney has this squad playing with such fluidity and freedom that the entire football community is taking notice.
