We Will Be Back On Top: Vinicius Jr after Brazil's Copa America 2024 exit

Real Madrid star has often been criticised for his poor displays for the national team.
Brazilian superstar Vinicius Jr has sent a heartwarming message to the fans following the team’s elimination from Copa America 2024 at the hands of Uruguay on penalties. Brazil had a poor tournament after winning only once in the group games and demonstrated an insipid performance.
The Real Madrid winger himself cut a frustrating figure in the competition despite scoring two goals. He was suspended for the quarterfinal game against La Celeste after receiving two yellow cards in the last group match against Colombia.
Vinicius has frequently been scrutinised for his showing in national team games after failing to score goals and turning up in crucial moments. He has one of the worst records with Brazil. The 23-year-old came into the competition on the back of an excellent club season with Real Madrid winning the UEFA Champions League.
That title certainly raised his stocks to win the Ballon d’Or and he is one of the favourites to lift the most desired individual award in football. But Brazil‘s exit from the Copa America 2024 competition could hamper his probability of winning the individual honour.
Meanwhile, Brazil have been poor in previous major tournaments as well despite boasting such a quality squad. In the last FIFA World Cup, they bowed out of the competition after defeat on penalties to Croatia.
Their last major trophy came in 2019 when they won Copa America and in 2021 they reached the final of the competition but were narrowly edged 1-0 by Argentina.
However, the forward was devastated by Brazil being eliminated from the competition and following this Vinicius Jr sent a heartfelt message to the fans, which read as below:
“My national team journey, fortunately, is just beginning. Next to my teammates, I’ll have the chance to relocate our national team to the place it deserves. WE WILL BE BACK ON TOP! LOVE YOU AND WE ARE TOGETHER!”
Vinicius has been seen as Neymar’s heir and is the future player of Brazil, but his performances have said otherwise. One can say he is just 23 and has plenty of years ahead of him to become one of the best Brazilian players.
Fans need to have patience and learn from Real Madrid supporters who were tolerant of the forward. That patience did give fruitful results as he finally hit good form and became a Madrid sensation. Since then, he has scored in two Champions League finals for Los Blancos.
