The club later deleted the post after recovering control of their website.

On Friday night, fans may have begun to get enthusiastic when it looked like football club Coritiba had revealed Neymar’s acquisition on their website.

The Brazilian Serie B team had to rapidly deflate the excitement by admitting that their website had been compromised and that they would not be signing the nation’s all-time top scorer. According to the website’s post, Neymar had committed to joining when his contract with Al-Hilal expires this summer and would like to join the team in order to play in the top division of Brazilian football.

Neymar actually never really agreed to join Coritiba. Shortly after the phoney post was posted on the team’s website, Coritiba’s IT staff took down the website, restored control, and removed the post. After his contract with the Saudi Arabian team expires, Neymar has been linked to returning to Brazil. Nevertheless, it is more probable that he will join his boyhood club, Santos.

The Brazilian has had a terrible time in Riyadh, with injuries severely restricting his playing time. However, he recently scored again in a practice game and still has time to improve his situation.

A hacking situation has happened with other clubs before Coritiba as well. After “intense negotiations and a great effort from our board,” Fluminense confirmed on their website in May 2024 that they were acquiring Erling Haaland, the Norwegian superstar for Manchester City. However, it was just another hacker, much to the dismay of the Brazilian supporters.

According to reports, Neymar has given the “green light” to return to Brazil and play for Santos, and he may look to leave Saudi Arabia as early as this month.

The Brazilian may decide to forsake those enormous paycheck rewards in favour of an early return to his boyhood club, even though his contract with Al-Hilal expires in the summer. The chance to play for Santos one more time, which will also help him get ready for the World Cup, might be too alluring.
