The Middle Eastern side will also face Porto in pre-season.

Al-Nassr have commenced on their pre-season tour. Many eyes will be on the team to see their talented squad ahead of the upcoming 2024-25 Saudi Pro League season.

However, their start to pre-season hasn’t gone to plan. Their expensive squad has failed to meet expectations after starting their opening game of pre-season matches with a boring draw.

This match was Al-Nassr’s first preseason friendly which ended in a 1-1 tie against Louletano DC on July 14. Despite their best efforts, the Knights of Najd were unable to win.

Star player Cristiano Ronaldo missed the match because he is still on holiday with his family after Portugal’s quarterfinal exit from Euro 2024.

Al-Nassr are set to face one of the big Portuguese clubs in their pre-season as well. They will take on FC Porto on 28 July. The players will have to pull themselves together if they hope to show any sign of improvement before the start of the new season.

Will Cristiano Ronaldo join Al-Nassr’s pre-season camp?

With the Portugal national team at Euro 2024 in Germany, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner appeared to be a shell of the player he once was as he failed to score a goal in the continental championship. After a painful penalty shootout loss to France in the quarterfinals, the disappointing journey came to an abrupt end.

It’s unlikely that Ronaldo will be part of the Saudi team for the pre-season tour as he is currently on vacation with his family, but he might return in Al-Nassr‘s Saudi Super Cup semi-final clash against Al-Taawoun.

Since the Euro 2024 exit, Ronaldo has been relaxing on a lavish sea cruiser with his lover Georgina Rodríguez and their children. The forward though is working to be ready ahead of joining back in Riyadh and has already begun private training in his backyard.

Ronaldo scored 50 goals in a single season in 2023–24 for Al-Nassr, although he was unable to lead them to the Saudi Pro League championship. As he gets closer to his personal goal of 1000 goals, he will be looking to start strong in 2024–2025 and bring honour to the team.
