The Manchester City striker is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Due to an ankle injury, Erling Haaland is expected to miss the majority of the season’s last stretch. It is anticipated that Haaland will recover in time to participate further in the season’s closing games, including the FIFA Club World Cup.
After sustaining an ankle injury during Sunday’s FA Cup victory over AFC Bournemouth, Haaland will consult a specialist following preliminary testing on Monday. The team anticipates that he will return to action for the last few games of the season.
After equalizing in the 61st minute, the Norwegian was subbed off as Manchester City defeated the Cherries 2-1 and advanced to the semi-finals. They will hope to claim their first trophy of the season.
Later, a social media video showed the 24-year-old exiting Vitality Stadium while using crutches and wearing a protective boot over his left ankle. It hinted that the former Borussia Dortmund star’s season was over; luckily, that is not the case.
Manchester City said on Monday that they anticipate Haaland “will be fit to play a further part in the remainder of this season including this summer’s Fifa Club World Cup”.
In order to determine “the full extent of the injury,” Haaland, who has recorded 30 goals in 40 games during the season, had tests on Monday, according to the club.
For the setback, the head coach of City, Pep Guardiola, said, “Sometimes these things happen… we’re so sorry for Erling. The doctors tell me between 5-7 weeks.”
On Sunday, Erling Haaland missed two great chances and a penalty, but he equalized the score with Nico O’Reilly’s cross before Omar Marmoush gave City the lead, sending Pep Guardiola’s team to the semi-final.
After a challenging Premier League season and early eliminations from the Champions League and Carabao Cup, City’s last remaining opportunity to win a trophy this season is the FA Cup.
Throughout the season, manager Pep Guardiola has had to cope with the injuries of important players. His team is one point behind Chelsea in the Premier League.
