Asia’s highest-tier football clubs compete in the AFC Champions League Elite, an annual continental club football tournament run by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). However, mainly only the league winners and runners-up qualify for the competition from different leagues in Asia.
The competition’s league stage has 24 clubs, split into East and West regions (12 teams each). The AFC Champions League Elite winner gets to play in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Asian club football second-tier league, the AFC Champions League Two, is classified lower than the AFC Champions League Elite.
Originally known as the AFC Cup, the competition was established in 2004 and was primarily played by clubs from countries that did not receive direct qualifying spots to the elite version of AFC Champions League.
Asian fans around the world will be hoping to watch the games when the competition begins. Moreover, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr are participating in the second-tier tournament.
