Which injury did Barcelona sensation Marc Bernal suffer in 2-1 win against Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga?

Bernal could be out for the entire season.
Barcelona’s season hasn’t even started fully, the club have already seen a few players pick up some serious injuries. The latest victim to an injury is the highly talented star Marc Bernal. The midfielder suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury (ACL) in Tuesday’s 2-1 win against Rayo Vallecano. He could end up missing the majority of the season.
Bernal had to come off in the final three minutes of the game as it seemed he wouldn’t be able to continue. In that game, Barça came from behind to make it three wins from three to start the new LaLiga campaign.
The club have confirmed that tests carried out on Wednesday have shown that the player Marc Bernal has a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and an associated injury to the lateral meniscus.
Following the game manager Hansi Flick revealed the extent of the teenager’s injury. He fears the worst. Speaking on Marc Bernal’s injury, Flick said:
“It’s a sad victory because Marc Bernal is injured and it looks not so good.”
“We have to wait and see how heavy it is. We win, it’s OK, but when you see the dressing room nobody is happy. It’s not good. He made a fantastic match — 17-years-old, such a performance. It hurts,” Flick said in a news conference after the LaLiga game.
This is a big blow for Barcelona given the club have not signed a midfielder this season. Now with the transfer window coming to a close, they might have to make prompt signing to replace Bernal.
New manager Hansi Flick gave the 17-year-old youth a huge opportunity during the preseason. It seems the La Masia Academy star etched his footprint during the summer training program.
This saw him getting three back-to-back roles in the starting lineup after the start of the new season, in which Barcelona won all of the games with the same 2-1 scoreline.
Bernal could have played a pivotal role under Flick had he not suffered a season-ending injury. But seems like he will have to spend the majority of the term on the sidelines. ACL certainly takes a big part of the year to heal. Even if he recovers he will have to gain his fitness which will take more time.
