Which shirt number will Kevin De Bruyne wear at Napoli?

The midfielder was seen sporting No.10 during practice.
Questions have been raised about whether Kevin De Bruyne may be the first player to wear Napoli’s most iconic No.10 in nearly two decades. He was spotted sporting it during training.
After Manchester City decided not to extend the Premier League legend’s contract, De Bruyne signed with the Serie A winners last month.

Prior to leaving City, De Bruyne stated that it “doesn’t make any sense” for him to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Before joining Napoli, he also had to safeguard himself from possible injury:
“I have to take care of myself because if I get injured in Club World Cup, what am I going to do? At that point, no one will look after me.”
Will De Bruyne wear the No.10 next season?
The 34-year-old has already begun practising with Napoli.
De Bruyne has been spotted wearing the number 10 on his training uniform in a number of club-published photos. Diego Maradona used to wear that shirt number at the club.
In the 1980s, the Argentine legend led Napoli to its first-ever Serie A titles in 1986–87 and then 1989–90, transforming the team into a dominant force in Italian and European football.
Napoli renamed their stadium after Maradona, who died in 2020 at the age of 60. In 2000, the No. 10 shirt was permanently retired in tribute to the Argentine legend, which is not always the case in football.
Which number will the Belgian midfielder wear at the Serie A club?
Despite the fact that it can be seen on his training kit, it seems unlikely that No. 10 will be unretired for De Bruyne, regardless of his status.
However, as per Matteo Moretto, the Belgian international is set to don the no.11, which was worn by his compatriot Romelu Lukaku at the club last season.
He will not take Maradona’s number 10 despite wearing it during training.
