Which teams have won three consecutive Premier League matches against Manchester United at Old Trafford?

The Red Devils suffered a 3-1 loss to Brighton in their recent Premier League match.

Brighton Hove & Albion became the second team after Manchester City to have won three consecutive matches in the Premier League at Old Trafford after handing Manchester United a 3-1 defeat.

On Sunday afternoon, the Seagulls convincingly defeated Manchester United. After Kaoru Mitoma squared the ball, Yankuba Minteh tapped it in to give the visitors the lead in the first half.

However, Bruno Fernandes’ penalty gave United the equaliser just before halftime. Brighton quickly recovered their advantage with a legitimate second goal from Kaoru Mitoma after Joao Pedro’s disallowed goal.

Then, with 14 minutes left, Georginio Rutter took advantage of an Andre Onana mistake to add a third. Rutter was given the opportunity to score after the United goalie spilt a low cross into the box.

Before Sunday’s match, Brighton had defeated Manchester United in five of their previous six Premier League encounters.

The Seagulls have now won three times in a row at Old Trafford, making them just the second team to do it against United. Meanwhile, Manchester City are the first team to defeat them three consecutive times at Old Trafford in the Premier League. Also, the local rivals have done it on two separate occasions in the competition’s history.

Their first three wins in a row came between October 2011 and March 2014, having commenced it with an epic 6-1 thumping of their local rivals. Their second three-match win streak spanned from September 2016 to April 2019.

The defeat to Brighton also makes United’s current home league problems worse, as they have now lost four of their last five games.

In the meantime, Man United had lost six of their first 12 home Premier League games this season, which is the most since the 1893–94 season, when they lost seven of those games.

After their tenth league loss of the season, Ruben Amorim’s team finishes the weekend in 13th place in the standings.
