Who is first Dutch player to win Premier League title as captain?

Arne Slot also became the first Dutch manager to win a top-flight title in England.
As Liverpool won their Premier League title for the 20th time, it marked a momentous occasion for their captain, Virgil van Dijk. The tall centre back who has been a notable figure in the backline for the last seven years became the first Dutch player to win the English Premier League title as a captain.
Liverpool were solid this season and confirmed their grasp on the title with four matches to spare. They left Arsenal, Newcastle, and Manchester City in their wake, establishing a lead of more than 20 points. With 84 points in 34 matches, Liverpool blew away the competition as the Gunners hopelessly lagged behind with 67 points. By then, it was already clear the title would inevitably make its way to Anfield.
That exactly did happen when Liverpool thrashed Tottenham Hotspur (5-1). Dominic Solanke put his side ahead in the 12th minute. For a brisk few minutes, it felt as if an upset was on the card. But little did he know what awaited him and his team.
Four minutes later, Luis Diaz equalised, followed by Alexis Mac Allister (24), Cody Gakpo (34), and Mohammed Salah (63). The last one came from an own goal as Destiny Udogie (69) found the back of his own net.
Virgil’s performance this season
While his team’s forward line was busy racking up goals (80) in the league, the defender was also doing his bit to secure his defence. The Breda-born athlete managed 14 clean sheets, winning 160 duels in the process. He also made 108 recoveries after losing possession.
In addition to this, he also scored two goals and made an assist. It was his leadership that aided his team in keeping the conceded goals to a bare minimum (32). The second lowest, right after Arsenal’s (29). Now that Van Dijk has extended his contract at the club, the fans will get to witness this special player for at least next season.
The former Southampton player also shares a special bond with the club and regards it highly, as he confessed his feelings to the media. “This (Liverpool) football club is just the most beautiful in the world”, said the Dutchman as he lifted the Premier League trophy high above his head, expressing the profound love that he has in his heart for Liverpool.
