Anthony Taylor will be officiating Chelsea’s opening game against Manchester City of the Premier League 2024–25 season this Sunday evening.

Antony Taylor over the years has come under heavy criticism for his poor decisions during the big games. This is certainly not good news for both clubs as his wrong decision-making affects the clubs. Especially Chelsea fans don’t like Taylor, as the referee has made a string of bad decisions whenever he officiates their games. 

He has been one of the most controversial referees over the years in the Premier League. Now he will once again make some important decisions when Chelsea and City play each other and some of those verdicts won’t go down well either with the Blues or incumbent league champions during the game.

Every transfer window, the West Londoners go through a change in squad and management. Once again, there were plenty of signings and the hiring of a new manager. 

The Blues will start their new season following a mixed run of pre-season, as the West Londoners won only twice in their six pre-season games, and now new head coach Enzo Maresca will face his former side in the opening league game of the new term. 

The Blues have been most active during the transfer window, and once again, they have brought plenty of new faces to the team. However, the massive concern has been the number of players in their team, as the club currently has 43 players in their first-team squad. 

Meanwhile, Manchester City have been quiet this transfer window and haven’t spent much, which is surprising given the club usually spends big sums to bolster their squad in every transfer window. 

But their star player, Julian Alvarez, left the club and joined Atletico Madrid in search of more game time. However, City still have an impressive side that can overcome any team, and now they will prepare for their opening Premier League game against Chelsea. 

Moreover, it could be Anthony Taylor who might end up being in the game’s spotlight as his decisions have resulted in both teams getting into a brawl with the referee after the match.
