PSG demolished Inter Milan 5-0 in the UCL final.
Desire Doué made history by becoming the youngest player to both score and assist in a UEFA Champions League final at the age of 19 years and 362 days. In addition, for scoring in a Champions League final, he is the fourth youngest player to do so in that category.
Against Inter Milan, Doue initially assisted Achraf Hakimi for PSG’s first goal in the 12th minute before scoring himself in the 20th to give his club a commanding 2-0 lead.
Doue didn’t stop there, either. His historic contributions also place him alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, who set the record for being personally involved in two goals during a Champions League final during Real Madrid’s victory over Atlético Madrid in Lisbon in 2014.
The French club continued to assert their dominance. They had one hand on the trophy when Doue doubled their lead as hopes of a treble appeared more realistic.
PSG continued to keep up their pace throughout the second half. Doue scored his second goal of the night just past the 60-minute mark, formally capping off an incredible evening.
He became the first player to be involved in three or more goals in a Champions League final thanks to his effort, which saw him contribute to three of PSG’s five goals.
Doue’s journey to this point wasn’t always easy. Playing second fiddle to fellow Frenchman Bradley Barcola, he started the season mostly on the bench. But he had battled his way into the starting lineup, displaying a level of consistency and maturity well above his years.
With 15 goals and 15 assists in all competitions at the end of the season, he established himself as one of Europe’s most promising young players.
The ultimate prize is finally here, after years of effort, heartache, and near misses. A teenager whose name is now inscribed alongside that of players like Ronaldo, Kluivert, and Carlos Alberto was at the heart of this momentous evening.
