The Gunners will be looking for a new No. 9 this summer

We are seeing a major shift in Arsenal’s transfer targets as the North London club gets ready for the upcoming summer transfer window of 2024. The matter in question is: the Gunners need to sign a big-money, world-class striker. It is a need of the hour and very much essential for the club to mend the continuous challenges in the striker position. Considering the situation at Arsenal right now, they are in big need of signing a world-class striker and fixing the issues in the upcoming transfer window.

The continuous injury troubles that Gabriel Jesus is experiencing are seriously impacting the No. 9 position. Because he is their primary striker, this is a major concern for the team. As Gabriel Jesus struggles with his injury issue, the team has to face the persistent problem of fielding an out-and-out striker every week. This persistent issue creates a problem for Arsenal in strengthening their offence and makes the job harder for the manager, Mikel Arteta

The pressing need for a solid offensive team is further highlighted by the below-par performances of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah in key matches. When it counted most, neither player could score regularly in crucial matchups. It’s obvious they’re in desperate need of a striker who can score big goals. Nketiah is also probably on his way out in the summer.

On the surface, Arsenal’s attacking numbers from the season appear promising. However, a deeper inspection uncovers some serious problems. At times, we have clearly seen that Mikel Arteta is lacking a world-class striker who can finish off the chances created and score from anywhere. This was most obviously seen in the depressing 2-0 loss to West Ham at the Emirates Stadium at the end of December when the team was at its worst.

Arsenal struggles in attack

The supporters demanded that Mikel Arteta sign a goal-scoring striker after this defeat. The game against West Ham highlighted Arsenal’s potency at setting up goals. With 77 touches inside the penalty area, the squad set a new record not seen since the 2008–09 campaign. The team’s inability to capitalise on these chances and score goals showed how poor they were at finishing.

The attacking problems Arsenal has are obviously more systemic than statistical. They really should change their strategy. Players like Bukayo Saka have been outstanding in stepping up to the plate and scoring goals. But a team can only go so far if its members rely on their own genius alone. Specifically, the team’s hopes and dreams are resting on the shoulders of the youthful Saka. He has suddenly become the centre of attention. Nevertheless, without the required assistance from the striker department, it is unreasonable to expect him to sustain this level of effectiveness forever.

Given the present state of affairs, Arsenal’s priority in the next transfer window should be to acquire a prominent striker. Not only would the team get some much-needed depth and skill with this signing, but it would also help the existing players perform better by taking some of the load off of them.

Arsenal are surely thinking about it. Their future success or failure may hinge on whether or not they sign a top-tier striker. The squad is prepared to begin a new chapter centred on achieving excellence in the face of adversity, thanks to the correct backing and resolve. Arsenal have a clear plan: they need to get a top-tier striker as soon as possible. It’s not an option; it’s crucial if they want to be considered among the top football teams again and win titles.
