Why Ruben Amorim's start at Manchester United has been delayed?
The Portuguese coach was expected to start his Red Devils reigns from November 11.
Manchester United’s new manager Ruben Amorim was set to take charge of the club from Monday. However, he won’t be able to start his reign due to a work permit issue.
The Portuguese coach is expected to travel to Manchester after taking charge of his last time game for Sporting CP against Braga in the Portuguese league match.
However, his joining could take a little longer as his paperwork has not been processed and he can’t officially start his new job or even start his first training session with the players.
With the November international break coming up most of United’s players will be out with their national team. This will see Ruben Amorim’s first game as United’s head coach to take place after the international break against Ipswich Town.
He won’t also be unveiled as Manchester United’s manager in front of the media until his pre-match press conference for that Premier League game, though he is allowed to speak to United’s in-house TV station before then.
United will hope that Ruben Amorim settles in the UK as quickly as possible and finds a home somewhere. He is expected to bring five of his backroom staff, which could make United’s coaching staff, including Ruud van Nistelrooy, doubtful to continue under him.
‘This block of four games, it felt like a closure and the future is open,’ said Van Nistelrooy.
‘I appreciated the clear communication of the club. It was an interim spell for a short-term. They kept me in the loop. It was four games, and for me it was important to have that clarity.‘
‘The communication was after the block of four, there will be communication towards you and your colleagues. The most important thing is the football club. I am here to support that, and I want to continue that.’
United fans will have to wait a little longer to see their new head coach conduct his first training session, as it is standard procedure for him to arrive in the UK before obtaining a visa.
