Cristiano Ronaldo unlikely to play tonight
The Portuguese star will be rested before Friday’s game against Al-Ittihad, according to local media, but back home, the legend of Real Madrid and Manchester United is reportedly furious at what he believes to be his club’s poor management.
“According to our source at Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo is unhappy with the way the PIF (Public Investment Fund) has been managing the club he has represented for the last three years, especially compared to the treatment given to rival clubs, also managed by the same fund,” A Bola reports.
Haydeer Adbulkareem, a 21-year-old midfielder, is the only addition Al-Nassr has made during the transfer window. At the start of the transfer window, Al-Nassr’s CEO and sporting director had their positions at the club suspended.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s rage arises at a time when the Saudi Pro League is rumoured to be launching a sweeping new signing campaign in the summer, with 50 world-class names reportedly on an aspirational shortlist. Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid are two of these players.
Cristiano Ronaldo has not had much success at Al-Nassr, with the Arab Champions Cup in 2023 being his only trophy, despite significantly elevating the prestige of the Saudi Pro League.
