The USA will play Portugal in a friendly tonight in the capital of Georgia, hoping to win their first-ever game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Portugal drew 0-0 with Mexico, one of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosts, while the United States was defeated 5-2 by Belgium this past weekend.
Perhaps it was to be expected that Mexico and Portugal’s 90-minute match on Saturday would be boring, given that both teams were without a number of important starters.

Due to his absence from the national squad just months before the World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo will regrettably not play in this match.
Due to a hamstring injury sustained while on club duty with Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo was not called up to play for Portugal during the March international break.
When the March international break arrived, Ronaldo had still not fully recovered from his injury, which had already kept him out of two Saudi Pro League games.
When he revealed the roster for Portugal’s matches against Mexico and the United States, head coach Roberto Martinez stated that Cristiano Ronaldo would be sidelined for “a week or two” longer.
However, the forward recently returned to training after the club decided to clear him for group practice with the team. Ronaldo is expected to play in Al-Nassr’s next game against Al-Najma this week as he once again hopes to return to his peak fitness.
