Will Kylian Mbappe break Cristiano Ronaldo’s first season tally at Real Madrid?

The Frenchman hit his first hat-trick as a Los Blancos player in the last LaLiga game.
Kylian Mbappe seems to have finally made a name for himself at the Santiago Bernabeu after a rocky start to his stint at Real Madrid.
The forward has scored eight goals in eight games in all competitions to start 2025 off strong. In every match he has played in this season, in every competition Real Madrid are playing in, he has scored.
This has significantly improved Mbappe’s season total to 22 goals, which puts him as Real Madrid’s undeniable top scorer. In fact, it appears that Mbappe will surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s first season total at Real Madrid.
33 goals were scored by the Portuguese international in his first season with Los Blancos. With most of the season still to go, Mbappe already has 22 goals.
Mbappe has scored 22 goals in 33 games at this point in the season, whereas Ronaldo had 15 goals in 16 games. Mbappe should easily surpass Ronaldo’s first season total at the Bernabeu if he can maintain his present form and stay injury-free.
Furthermore, Mbappe has already won two medals with Real Madrid: the FIFA Intercontinental Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, which he won in his first match for Los Blancos. For comparison, Ronaldo had to wait 82 games before winning his first Real Madrid trophy.
However, given that Ronaldo was significantly more influential and essential to the Real Madrid establishment than Mbappe is at the moment, context becomes crucial in this situation.
In light of this, comparing Mbappe and Ronaldo’s debut seasons at Real Madrid requires taking into account more than just the numbers.
Whether or not the Frenchman actually surpasses his idol will depend on what happens in the upcoming months. But with the speed the former Paris Saint-Germain player is scoring goals, there is no denying that he will certainly eclipse Ronalod’s debut season tally at the Spanish capital.
