Les Bleus will host Croatia with a two-goal disadvantage.
In the second leg of their quarterfinal matchup in the UEFA Nations League, Croatia will try to defeat France tonight at the Stade de France.
Les Bleus have an extremely hard mountain to climb this weekend. Had Mike Maignan failed to save the penalty from Andrej Kramaric just eight minutes later, France could have been in a 3-0 deficit for today’s second leg.
Didier Deschamps’s team, who will bid farewell to their longtime head coach after the 2026 World Cup, suffered the loss on the road. It ended their five-game winning streak and was only their second loss in their previous 12 UEFA Nations League games.
Les Bleus have only won two of their last six Nations League games in front of their own supporters after going undefeated in their first five and winning four of them.
Although Kylian Mbappe’s return was supposed to be a boost, Les Bleus appeared haphazard and subpar despite his inclusion in the squad. France hardly threatened, despite Mbappe’s six shots on goal. Croatia, however, were clinical.
Mbappe needs support if he hopes to lead France back into the match. There was no urgency in the middle, and Ousmane Dembele was ineffective. Mbappe has previously performed well on the largest of stages for the national team. France’s season in the Nations League will end if he doesn’t do it again.
Will Kylian Mbappe play tonight?
Kylian Mbappe will play in tonight’s game since he is healthy and ready to be selected. He will almost certainly be included in the starting lineup because of how crucial he is to the French team.
Mbappe’s ability to breach defences will be essential, and his presence in the attack gives France’s offensive approach an additional dimension.
Kylian Mbappe will also serve as the French team’s captain for this game. After scoring 31 goals in 44 games for Real Madrid this season, the striker is playing at his optimum best right now.
