The Frenchman missed the Rayo Vallecano draw.
The primary concern for Real Madrid is still Kylian Mbappé’s fitness before the FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024 final.
To play Liga MX’s C.F. Pachuca in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final, the reigning Spanish and European champions travelled to Doha, Qatar. Over the past week, Eduardo Camavinga and Vinícius Júnior made their injury comebacks, giving Real Madrid a significant boost as they enter their final stretch of games to end 2024.
However, Los Blancos’ injury problems are far from done. Mbappé hasn’t played since sustaining a thigh injury against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League on December 10. Despite the fact that the injury was not considered significant, Mbappé was projected to miss 10 days of action, which would prevent him from playing against C.F. Pachuca and Rayo Vallecano.
However, head coach Carlo Ancelotti included the Frenchman in his squad for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final. Would he be able to return earlier than expected?
Will Kylian Mbappe play tonight?
Mbappé is probably going to participate in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final. The Frenchman returned to training after joining the team in Qatar. Whether he starts or just comes on as a substitute is the true question.
Ancelotti provided the most recent information on Mbappé’s recuperation at his pre-game press conference: “Kylian trained yesterday and had good feelings. Everything went well. We will see during training today. We are optimistic.”
For Real Madrid, Mbappé’s prompt comeback would be fantastic. If not the 25-year-old would be ready against Sevilla this weekend. However, he would love to help Los Blancos perhaps win their second championship of the year. As Vinícius Júnior serves a one-game ban for the accumulation of yellow cards, Mbappé will have to shoulder the goal-scoring burden in the LaLiga match after this final.
Without Mbappé on the field, Real Madrid only managed a 3–3 tie with Rayo Vallecano, dropping them to third place in the LaLiga rankings. Naturally, the squad needs to welcome the Frenchman back early in order to maintain pressure on Barcelona and Atletico Madrid at the top of the league standings.
