Marcus Rashford might make his Barcelona debut today as his new team’s first preseason match officially begins this weekend.

Under Hansi Flick’s direction, Barca had a fantastic 2024–25 season, winning LaLiga, the Spanish Super Cup, and the Copa del Rey. However, they came up short in the UEFA Champions League, losing a close match against Inter Milan in the tournament’s semifinals.

The Catalan powerhouses will begin the 2025–26 season as the favourites to win LaLiga. They have added three players to their roster this summer: Joan Garcia, Roony Bardghji, and Rashford. All three are included in the squad for the Asia tour.

The club had long wanted to add a goalkeeper and a wide forward. Now club president, Joan Laporta, has indicated that there will be no further additions this summer. However, there could be departures.

Barcelona’s 2025–26 season is shaping up to be very intriguing as they aim to also win the Champions League. This pre-season will be crucial to their preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Due to a “serious breach of contract” by the organisers, Barca’s Asian tour opener against Vissel Kobe of the J1 League was cancelled earlier this week. However, Mundo Deportivo, a Spanish publication, later claimed that the match would take place.

Due to an alleged non-payment, Sunday’s match was cancelled; however, officially it was announced that the matter has been resolved, and the game has been rescheduled.
