Despite being one of the newest additions to the F1 circus, the Qatar GP promises to be an exhilarating race, thanks in part to the track’s fast-paced nature. Furthermore, with the sprint race making a comeback, let’s take a preview of the Qatar GP.

The 5.4 km Lusail circuit was initially designed for MotoGP. However, after the event’s success, the track was adapted for F1 racing, boasting multiple high-speed and medium-speed corners. Additionally, the venue’s capacity has surged remarkably, rising from 8,000 in 2021 to an impressive 40,000 this weekend. Moreover, the pit and paddock complex has undergone a substantial revamp.

Max Verstappen’s third title

Max Verstappen’s 2023 F1 season has been nothing short of magical, with the Dutchman winning ten races in a row. Although the Singapore GP marked the end of his streak, his dominant show in Japan testified that Singapore was just a one-off incident.

Perhaps the most exciting news of the weekend is the potential for Max Verstappen to clinch his third world championship at the Sprint race in Qatar. This would not only mark his championship win six races before the season’s end but also further solidify his position as one of F1’s all-time greats.

Battle for second in the Constructors championship

While Red Bull has already secured the constructors’ championship, the battle for second in the tables is heating up. This is because Aston Martin, initially ahead, has been out-developed by Mercedes, Ferrari, and even McLaren. Moreover, with Ferrari clearly showing a resurgence in form, Mercedes needs to step up their game to hold on to the second place.

Lawson still racing

Despite earlier reports suggesting Daniel Ricciardo’s return during the Qatar GP, new reports suggest that the Australian driver will miss the race due to the intense heat on the track, coupled with his injury taking longer than expected to recover.
