The proposed circuit is planned in the ambitious GIFT city in Gandhinagar.

In a bid to bolster the state’s sporting infrastructure, the Government of Gujarat has issued a tender for the appointment of an agency to conduct a Feasibility Study and prepare a Master Plan for an F1 circuit at GIFT City, Gandhinagar.

The initiative, under the jurisdiction of the Sports Authority of Gujarat, aims to explore the potential of establishing a cutting-edge Formula 1 racing circuit in the heart of the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).

The Tender read, “Tenders are invited by Government of Gujarat for Request for Proposal “Appointment of Agency for undertaking Feasibility Study and Preparation of Master Plan for F1 circuit at GIFT City, Gandhinagar ” for Sports Authority of Gujarat. Details to the Document Can be downloaded from the website https://tender.nprocure.com Interested Agencies should submit their document copy on (n) procure portal before 29/01/2024 Till 18:00 hrs.”

The proposed F1 circuit in Gujarat not only promises to be a cutting-edge facility for motorsports enthusiasts but also aims to boost the economic and tourism sectors in the region. This ambitious project aligns seamlessly with the government’s dedication to enhancing sports and entertainment infrastructure in Gujarat, reinforcing its reputation as a hub for top-notch facilities.

It’s worth noting that India already boasts an F1 circuit in Noida, known as the Buddh International Circuit, which hosted three Grand Prix editions from 2011 to 2013. However, logistical, and administrative challenges, and high costs led the FIA, the regulatory body of F1, to discontinue the Indian Grand Prix from the tour.

Despite the past setbacks faced from F1 by India, the Gujarat Government’s commitment to building infrastructure for a potential 2036 Olympic bid is reflected in this move, positioning the new F1 circuit as a crucial component of the region’s overall development strategy. This initiative not only signals a renewed focus on sports but also underlines the significance of investing in world-class facilities to attract international attention and participation.
