BGMI Masters Series 2023: Format explained/breakdown

The BGMI Masters series is all set to commence on August 4th, 2023.

Following the success of the first season, the second edition of the BGMI Masters Series is all set to commence on 4th August 2023 at a much bigger scale.

The esports has completely evolved in India with the BGMI playing a significant role in its rise. The BGMI Masters Series 2022 made history by smashing television viewership records on Star Sports 2. In just the first eight days of the tournament, from 24th June to 1st July, it managed to attract an astounding 12.3 million views.

Hence, the second season is also packaged on a grand scale. The all-new format, younger and new players, and the highest-ever prize pool amount all will gear up for the intense battlegrounds and heart-pounding actions. 

The Master Series will have little over three weeks of intense battlegrounds with a total of seven rounds and the Grand Finals scheduled on Sunday, August 27.  

The Launch Week

  • To be held between 4-6 August 2023
  • Each of the 24 teams is divided equally into 3 groups of 8 teams. 
  • The games will be held in a Round-Robin format.
  • The points that would be accumulated in the Launch week by the teams will add to the overall leaderboard.

The First Week

The League 

-To be held between 7th-10th August 2023.

-24 teams are divided equally into 3 groups of 8 teams

-Games will be held for four days in the Round-Robin format. 

-The Top 16 teams will qualify for the Week 1 final round.

Week 1 Finals 

-To be held between 11th-13th August 2023.

-The 16 Qualified teams will play for the three match days. 

-As per the overall leaderboard, the top 4 teams of the 1-week finals will directly qualify for week 2 finals though they will still play Week 2 League.

The Second Week

The League 

-To be held between 14th – 17th August 2023.

-24 teams are divided equally into 3 groups of 8 teams 

-Games will be held for four days in the Round-Robin format. 

-The Top 12 teams along with the top 4 of Week 1 will qualify for the Week 2 final round.

Week 2 Finals 

-To be held between 18th – 20th August ,2023.

-The matches will be held between 16 teams for 3 match days.

-Points will be added to the overall leaderboard.

After the Week 2 Finals, the top four teams will directly qualify for Grand Finals. The playoff will be held between 5th to 20th rank teams in the overall final leaderboard. The bottom four teams will be eliminated and the Grand Finals will be held with remaining teams.

The match will be streamed live online in Rooter and telecasted live online in Rooter and telecasted live on Star Sports Network (Star Sports 1 and Star Sports 2).
