The new cold snap update is live!
Raiders and gamers are currently enjoying the all-new cold snap update in ARC Raiders. Embark Studio not only added a snow-covered map, but they also added a new environmental hazard, frostbite.
When covered in frostbite, it will slowly drain your health and shrink your FOV after prolonged outdoor exposure. Let’s check out more details on how to treat the frostbite & more details in this article.
What is Frostbite in Arc Raiders?
This only happens if you play the snow-covered map. When you are outside for too long. The snow will slowly start to accumulate on your screen, you will become snow, your HP will drain slowly and your FOV will get smaller. There are also frozen lakes, which makes you slip.
It pauses instantly under any roof. Pro tip: Rotate Cold Snap maps in the queue (for example, Spaceport).
How to treat & prevent Frostbite?
Now, the Raiders have to be extra attentive while rotating outside in the cold snap. Here are some tips that might help you:
- Seek Roof Cover Immediately: Any overhead object prevents snow from falling and resets the timer. Walls alone? Useless—focus on the rooftops!
- Understand the Reset Mechanic: Step under cover (briefly works), timer pauses. No need for full buildings.
- Fireball Burner Clutch Play: Standing near flames does not warm you up; rather, rolling through a deployed fireball burner restores frostbite. Lifesaver when the cover is far away!
- Flamethrower Team Save: A squadmate’s flamethrower operates as transportable heat, causing no self-damage. Risky in bouts, but gold for rotations.
- Loadout for Sustain: Pack extra meds for chip damage.
Prioritize healing augments:
| Augment | Effect |
|---|---|
| Tactical MK.3 | Passive health regen |
| Combat MK.2/3 | Combat healing boosts |
