Arc Raiders is adding Denuvo anti cheat in new update

New anti-cheat but no DRM
Embark Studios has officially confirmed that Arc Raiders will receive Denuvo anti-cheat support as part of the upcoming update. This new update is already out on May 19, 2026.
These new changes will also assure the players that this controversial software will have very little impact on the game performance.
Arc Raiders is using Denuvo Anti-Cheat, not DRM
According to the developers, the game will only implement Denuvo’s anti-cheat functionality and will not use DRM (Digital Rights Management). This system is often associated with the software.
This is a very important part because Denuvo DRM has been accused by players and analysts many times because of performance drops, longer loading times and stuttering in several AAA games.
That is why Embark Studios is also not implementing DRM, as they don’t want any of these types of issues in their extraction shooter game.
They are focusing only on anti-cheat protections, which will aim to improve fairness in online gameplay.
Cheaters are the main target
Cheating has become a major problem for Arc Raiders since the launch of the game. Many players, content creators and streamers have stopped playing the game because of the cheaters.
Hackers and exploiters have constantly affected the player experience. Embark Studios also stated that they are using the Denuvo anti-cheat partly due to the positive response that it received in their other game, The Finals.
The anti-cheat will be rolled out to a limited number of players first, and then expanded based on internal monitoring and testing.
Embark also said it will keep optimizing the software to minimize disturbances to the game.
