Dune Awakening developers apologizes for PvP Dessert Patch issue; offer reimbursements

What went wrong with the new patch?

Dune Awakening had a very successful launch on PC and the developers at Funcom were also making sure to patch the bugs or any errors that players were facing daily.

However, a recent update on July 7, 2025, accidentally enabled PvP in several PvE areas of the Deep Desert. This caused equipment loss and damage to the base for the players.

What went wrong with the new patch?

The patch, which accidentally enabled PvP in several PvE areas of the Deep Desert, was meant for the future update in Dune Awakening.

The developers have acknowledged their communication oversight and they are now revamping the internal process so that this mistake cannot happen in the future.

They have decided to reimburse for the lost vehicles and items, which will start very soon. Players should expect to see the in-game ‘Claim Rewards’ tab by the end of the week.

Vehicle and Item Loss support

Bug-related item and vehicle losses have been difficult to address, but enhanced tooling now allows for the identification and reimbursement of affected players.
