New updated Rivals revamps, tournaments & more
FIFA fans and gamers got the new update from EA Sports, which was the full EA FC 26 Ultimate Team deep dive.
EA has been working on the feedback and improving most of the things from the previous Ultimate Team mode. Lets’ find out more details in this article.
What’s new in EA FC 26 Ultimate Team?
EA FC 26 is reshaping Ultimate Team with a revised playlist. The new Live Events bring a variety of tournament formats with unique entry restrictions, encouraging you to deploy bench players.
According to IGN, a simple Event Hub will centralize access to these challenges and include modifications such as House Rules (e.g., Max Chemistry, No Rules), Match Limits, and Solo/Co-op options.
Tournaments comeback
Fans have been requesting this for a long time and now Tournaments are finally back in the FUT mode.
This traditional knockout format introduces new structures and a flexible timetable, appearing at crucial periods rather than running continuously like Rivals or Champs.
According to GameSpot, each event has its own set of awards and squad rules, which are detailed in the launch pitch notes.
New Gauntlet Mode
EA FC 26 is introducing the gauntlet mode. This is a fresh live event testing squad depth with five matches requiring a unique lineup.
Unlike tournaments, there is no elimination; you can continue to play, with higher wins providing more rewards.
According to EA’s website, the Ultimate Gauntlet will begin with three matches every two weeks, with additional information available as the game approaches release.
Conclusion
With Champs limited to weekends, Rivals is the daily grind for the majority. To counteract fatigue, FC 26 introduces Bounties—random challenges per match that give Rivals Points, Coins, Packs, and Stage Skips. Duels, a Bounty variant, pit you against opponents on the same assignment (e.g., first goal), with more stakes.
Champions has abandoned qualification matches in favor of Rivals Divisions and Points. For a lighter feel, Challengers offers a lower-tier alternative with its own framework and incentives, maintaining Champs’ exclusivity.
Online play uses the Competitive preset, which maintains the quick tempo while addressing FC 25’s faults, whereas offline modes use a different approach.
