EA FC 27 career mode teases new player Rivalries feature

Ahead of the official reveal and deep dive, the developers have already started to tease some of the biggest new additions and features of the game.

New feature: Player Career Rivalries

On the official EA FC 27 website, EA has briefly mentioned that the players will be able to “compete against teammates for the starting place with the Player Career Rivalries.”

They haven’t properly explained the feature yet on their website. However, it appears that players might no longer automatically earn a place in the starting XI.

Players might have to outperform their teammates through training sessions and match performances in order to earn their spot.

There is no doubt that this will make the career mode far more immersive than the previous entries. More confirmed details and information will be provided in the upcoming Career Mode Deep Dive scheduled for July 31, 2026.

Is this inspired by Madden’s Superstar Mode?

For now, EA Sports has not confirmed anything yet. However, many fans believe that this feature is pretty similar to the rivalry system found in Madden NFL’s Superstar Mode.

In that game, players can directly compete with AI teammates for their position. Very strong performance in the matches and training improves your standing. If you perform poorly, you might lose your place.

This system could also provide you with a clear objective and measurable progression towards securing a starting role in EA FC 27 career mode.
