Police crime plot with thriller!
Nearly 13 years after waiting, fans are finally getting GTA 6, which is all set to release on May 26, 2025. Recently, a former Rockstar Magazine Chief Editor has revealed some interesting information.
This is the update on why the game took so much time in development and there was another script which has cancelled for being too dark. Let’s find out more in this article.
The scrapped scripts of GTA 6
According to the former Rockstar Magazine Chief Editor, the first script was penned by Dan Houser in 2014, featured three protagonists akin to GTA V’s trio: a principled ex-Vice City cop, his son, and a Colombian drug lord’s right-hand man.
By 2016, the cop’s descent into criminality to protect his son had become “too dark,” failing to fulfill Take-Two’s standards and triggering its termination.
The second attempt, which lasted only a few months, focused on a lighter story about an African-American ex-soldier after prison.
The third, which was abandoned in 2019, similarly failed to gain traction, prompting Rockstar to pause and regroup.
The fourth and current script, starring Lucia and Jason and inspired by Bonnie and Clyde, began in 2020 following Houser’s departure, signaling a new beginning.
Thoughts
It’s only right that Rockstar Games will take their sweet time when they are investing 1 billion dollars in the development of GTA 6.
They want to provide a generational-defining game, after everyone has waited so long for a new GTA game.
However, they also want to keep the game in check with every guideline, so they won’t face any issues on the launch day.
Personally, I am pretty happy with the current script and looking forward to seeing Jason and Lucia’s story in the game.
Rockstar never disappoints us with their game and I am sure GTA 6 is going to be their best game that they have made so far.
