Highguard’s future is not looking good

After reports of layoffs, Wildlight Entertainment released an official statement saying the studio had a tough decision to make about separating from several of its staff and retaining a smaller core staff.

The rest of the group will also proceed to support and build Highguard in the future, according to the announcement. The player community and the company also appreciated the support of their employees.

Several developers have publicly addressed their layoffs. One of them was level designer Alex Garner, who expressed his disappointment over unreleased content that the team had worked on but never saw the light of day.

Principal Sound Designer Geoffrey Garnett and Gameplay Engineer Geoffrey Tucker both affirmed their resignation and characterized the experience as bitter and sweet and thanked their colleagues at the studio. The restructure affected other staff members who were of the same mindset.
