The new League Points restoration
Riot Games is all set to introduce a game changing feature to League of Legends in 2025. This system will be called as, “Rollback System.” This is the same system which was integrated into Valorant last year.
The main aim of Riot Games is to rectify the frustration among the fans and players when they lose their League Points due to cheaters and hackers. Let’s check out more details in this article.
What is the Ranked Rollback system?
There are many players and fans who might know what exactly is the Ranked Rollback system. Previously, this was exclusive to Valorant but now it will be also integrated into League of Legends by Riot Games.
The ranked rollback mechanism is an outgrowth of this, providing a Vanguard LP Refund when a player is paired against a cheater.
- How it works: If a cheater is discovered during a game, members on the opposing team will have their lost LP restored. This reimbursement is intended to offset the “loss of time” incurred by players who played honorably but lost due to cheating.
- Expected Launch: The system will be available in the first quarter of 2025, guaranteeing that it is operational before the start of the second season.

Everyone knows how frustrating it is to play League of Legends ranked matches. Now imagine, with all the frustration and anger, you are on a losing streak, and when you think everything is going to be good this time, you meet cheaters and lose more points. This system will ensure that your valuable League Points won’t be lost against the cheaters.
Community Reaction
Now there were some mixed reactions from the League of Legends community regarding this announcement.
- Positive Feedback: Many players praise the idea, seeing it as a long-overdue step toward improving the fairness of competitive play. Comments on social media platforms like as X show a positive response, with some stating that it’s about time after 15 years of the game.
- Concerns and Suggestions: There have been demands to address other concerns such as AFK players, server stability, smurf accounts, and purposeful feeding. Some players are also wondering if there will be changes to MMR (Match Making Rating) in addition to the LP return.
