Many fans are waiting for the State of Decay 3 which is an Xbox exclusive but now it seems that they might have to wait till 2026.

On the Xbox Two Podcast, journalist Jez Corden highlighted how, while Undead Labs’ highly anticipated zombie survival game was originally scheduled for release in 2025, it now appears more likely to arrive the following year.

Speculation and rumors for State of Decay 3 delay

This prediction comes amid Microsoft’s already jam-packed 2025 release schedule, which includes titles such as Avowed, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Fable, South of Midnight, and The Outer Worlds II. The delay of State of Decay 3 until 2026 may allow breathing room for both the game’s production and players to experience these other key releases without overlap.

Although fans were given a new in-engine video for State of Decay 3 in June, the first big update since the game’s introduction with a CGI teaser in 2020, true gameplay footage is still elusive. This means that the game will take some time to be fully ready for the market.

Given the complexity and ambition of the survival title, the delay may not be bad news.
